Wedding of Norma and Patrick
I met Patrick and Norma back in April to discuss their wedding ideas and plans. I quickly discovered Patrick is very detail-oriented and administrative while Norma is very laid back and very, very sweet.
This is a second marriage for both Patrick and Norma. Between the two of them, they have eight children. The wedding party was comprised of their children.
I helped plan and coordinate their wedding as well as designed the flowers and provided the linens. Their color scheme was pink and lavender. Norma wanted very simple bouquets and table centerpieces. The bride's bouquet consisted of spray roses, freesia and ivy where the bridesmaids had spray roses and baby's breath. The altar arrangements were a mixture of pink flowers consisting of light and dark carnations, roses, peonies, baby's breath and ivy.
The wedding reception was only two hours, so we had a very tight schedule to work with, but everything ran on time.
There were going to be several children, so Patrick and Norma wanted to make sure they were entertained. They had a moon bounce, a table with various crafts that would end up decorating their get-away car and rides in Patrick’s antique kit car, which they in turn used as their get-away car.
We only had one mishap that I have never encountered before. Shortly before the wedding was to begin, Norma accidentally dropped her lipstick onto her ivory wedding dress. Oh, yes. It was a dark pink color. I was called immediately to her dressing room. When I arrived, Norma was crying, but I told her not to worry. I got seltzer water, hair spray and even my Wine Out. With a combination of those items, I worked and worked on rubbing out the lipstick and after several minutes, I was able to get the majority of the lipstick removed to where, at least, you would not have noticed unless you were very close. When I left her to go back and check on things, I asked her, “What are you doing today?” She answered, “Getting married.” I said, “That’s right. Nothing else matters.”
Patrick and Norma are now finishing up a two-week honeymoon in Hawaii. Can you say jealous?
Congratulations!
